Visited Mind & Machine art exhibition today. “Sống Xa Ở Gần”, by Andrew Stiff and Becky Lu was the artwork I had a strong connection with.

“Sống xa ở gần” means to live far away, but stay nearby. It’s a map where you can explore the ordinary of life around Kênh Tẻ Canal in Ho Chi Minh City. One half of the canal is located in District 4, other half is located in District 7. This map will lead you through the narratives (with AR installations) that Andrew and Becky want to share about the relationship between the river network and the life of the cities.

This is an interesting project, AR installations were nice. But it would be great if the artists could highlight the contrast between these 2 districts. As a citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, I think what makes these 2 districts special is that the lives of both sides of the canal are quite contrasted, and they are somehow harmonious and connected by the canal.
