I’ve always enjoyed doodling geometric patterns on paper, and by chance, I decided to create a digital version inspired by my hometown, Saigon. I ended up focusing on the pattern I love most – Vietnam’s modernist architecture.
During the COVID pandemic, I spent 30 minutes daily sketching. Most of the patterns in these sketches are influenced by the clean lines and shapes of modernist buildings in Southern Vietnam. While this project could evolve into a more defined style, for now, I’m keeping it simple with black-and-white sketches. (See cover image above for a glimpse of the work.)

Then, I thought… I could have the pattern printed on a stainless steel mug as a gift for my friends and family! Here’s a quick mockup I put together.
