UX Research & Business Goals

I attended a Stravito webinar on Making UX Research matter to the business. The key takeaway was that presenting research clearly is challenging, especially when different people need different types of information. Besides learning how Stravito’s platform can help address these issues, I also gained insight into the importance of aligning research with the company’s goals and decision-making processes.

Takeaway

Set meetings for different team needs: Every team has its own goals and ways of working, so it’s important to customize meetings to fit their needs. This helps make sure the information shared is relevant and useful for everyone involved.

Clearly communicate the benefits of the research: It’s important that each team understands how the information is relevant and useful. Focus on how the research impacts key areas like:

  • Growth: How the research can drive business or team growth.

  • Value: How it adds value to existing processes or products.

  • Adaptability: How the insights help teams adapt to changes in the market or environment.

  • Risk: How it helps identify and mitigate potential risks.

  • Speed: How it accelerates decision-making or product delivery.

Customize report for each team needs: Not every team needs the same type of report. Adjust the format and content to fit each team’s role and focus. Use one-pagers for quick, high-level takeaways and more detailed reports for teams that need a deeper dive. Make sure both types highlight key areas like growth, value, adaptability, risk, and speed, so each team can easily find the information that matters most to them.

Check understanding and gather feedback: Ask questions or check in to see if people are following along, and use that input to make things better next time.
