They launched Typography as… (Chữ là chi…) exhibition in early 2021, showcasing how a typeface can be applied to real-life via a multidisciplinary approach. I am inspired to see the historical values turn into elements that are utilizing as unique design pieces in modern life. Below are my 2 favourite fonts from republi.sh
The team also shared their process of developing a typeface from Research → Exploration → Development → Refinement → Output. The Research phase helps them to study the letterforms and also helps them to define the style of the typeface they designed. This is also a lesson learned for my typeface design project. I have no research phase at the beginning, that’s why it’s so hard for me to define a proper style while keeping the personalities of the typeface I am digitalizing. 🤔 Should have to get back to the Research phase sometimes.
