Tiki Ads is a tool that allows sellers to increase traffic to their products and stores. With Brand-store Ad, sellers can increase store traffic by showcasing their store name and tagline on the top of Tiki’s Search results page.

The requirement of this project was to find a “more interesting way” for the defined Ad-slot. Below was my design proposal.

The competitors

I did a quick competitor research on the Seach result page. Some Ad-slots had their store logo, and store name displayed. Some came together with a product list. Some had a carousel where shoppers could scroll left to see more products. They looked very similar in style. I think we need some movement but a bit subtle enough to draw attention.

The traditional offline media

So, to have a “more interesting way” for our Ad-slot, I brought everyone on the team back to our traditional offline media. We discussed how offline media share information with the public. We then brainstormed which media type can be achievable with our current technical approaches.

The design proposal: option 1

This design option was inspired by Dynamic Billboards. We had a vertical carousel on top of the Search result page. The left-hand side contained store information (logo, store name, badge, rating), all of this information stayed still. The right-hand side contained the store message (message, image, and CTA), this part was auto-scrolled up every 5 seconds.

The design proposal: option 2

This option 2 was inspired by the Outdoor event. We had Vietnam’s cityscape as a background image and a plane flying with a banner (Store message, store name, logo, CTA) across the Search result page.
